Spiritual Life


Bible Study - Fr. Peter holds a bible study class on the second Tuesday of each month at 6.30 pm.  The class                 rotates between Our Lady of Sorrows in Essex, and St. Joseph’s Church in Chester.  All are welcome.

Third Order of Mary - The Third Order of Mary is open to both men and women and has as its    purpose, sharing in the mission of Our Blessed Mother in the Church. It forms its members in the imitation of the faith of Mary and the service she rendered to Jesus and the support she gives to His Church. The Order has three elements: A conviction of a sense of belonging to Mary, the needs of the Church, and the needs of people.  We meet ten times a year for spiritual                 enrichment and to support one another. Cenacle - Our Lady of Sorrows parishioners participate in the Prayer Cenacle at 9:00 am on Friday mornings in Murtha Hall.  All are welcome. 

Adoration - The Holy Eucharist is exposed for adoration on Wednesdays from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm and on Saturdays from 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm.

Pro Life Committee- Our Lady of Sorrows supports the Catholic Pro Life causes and participates in events such as the Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center (New London) annual "Walk for Life" and the "National March for Life" in Washington D.C. If you are interested in participating in the Pro Life committee please contact the Parish Office at (860) 767-1284.

Knights of Columbus - Council 12113 meets the third Wednesday of each month.  This group of men has a regular program of events including parish dinners, breakfasts, and donates member time, talent to benefit Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.  See www.kofc.org for additional information or contact Grand Knight Mike Berdensey at (860) 304-6839.
